After what seemed like an interminable wait for many racers, the racing simulation game Assetto Corsa 2, or Evo for those in the know, is really coming to fruition. Italian development studio Kunos Simulazioni, behind AC and ACC, has just confirmed the release ofAssetto Corsa Evo with the launch of its Steam page, and breathtaking images to boot.
What do we know about Assetto Corsa Evo?
Before the studio made it official, we knew that AC 2 was due for release in 2024, or perhaps even 2025. But with the Steam platform page just launched for the game, we’ve confirmed several points.
Firstly, the game will run on a brand new graphics engine developed by the studio, and according to Kunos Simulazioni, it’s going to be a visual slap in the face (spoiler alert, the first images confirm this). ” With the launch of a new high-performance photorealistic game engine patented and developed by Kunos Simulazioni, Virtual Reality and triple-screen compatibility have become premium features, and the all-new mathematical model accurately simulates asphalt sensations in a variety of dynamic weather conditions to ensure an authentic, realistic experience that replicates the performance standards that have made Assetto Corsa famous the world over. “These are the words on the game’s Steam page.
For the images, the emphasis is on realism and above all on the treatment of light and reflections, whether for the exterior of the cars or their interiors. Speaking of vehicles, the images show a Porsche GT3 Cup (992), a Mercedes 190E EVO II, an Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm, Alpines, Hyundais and a Huracán STO. Some might say it’s not much, but at the same time, it’s just a teaser of sorts. Expect many more cars in the final version of the sim-racing title.

Another point mentioned is that the circuits are now laser-scanned ( Laserscan technology) to give a near-perfect reproduction of the surface, curves, jumps, bumps and everything else that can be found on the track. For the moment, we know that 3 will be available: Brands Hatch, Imola and the Nordschleife.
Let’s finish with the game’s release and minimum and recommended PC configurations. Availability will be during the summer of 2024, with early access on PC first, followed by Next Gen consoles. For the PC configuration, count on an i7 8th Gen/R5 1500X, a GTX 1070/RX 580 and 16 GB RAM for the minimum, and an i5 10th Gen/R5 2600X, an RTX 2070/RX 5600 and still 16 GB RAM. As far as I’m concerned, the new Assetto Corsa EVO won’t be very resource-hungry, which isn’t bad considering the price of PC components currently on the market.
