Perfection is often in the details! As Sim Racing enthusiasts, we love straddling our setup to immerse ourselves in virtual racing, scorching the tarmac of the planet’s finest circuits. And we know just how important the details are in reproducing the sensations of real racing: powerful force feedback, an ultra-comfortable seat, a panoramic view with triple motion simulator screens to batter us at every turn, etc. But, let’s face it, we’re still missing that je-ne-sais-quoi to really feel like we’re in an open cockpit.
When the wind blows…on our setup!
Now, thanks to the creative imagination of Nitro Concepts, a wind is about to blow through our setup. Nitro Concepts adds an unprecedented touch of realism by reproducing the sensation of speed with a synchronized airflow.
You heard right. The developers at Nitro Concepts have just presented the latest version of their E-Racer simulator at CES 2025. So, what’s new? Small fans on either side of the steering wheel, but they’re not designed to cool the system! No, Nitro Concept has just developed a brand-new in-your-face air simulator. From now on, during our frantic races, the wind will whip across our cheeks, making us feel even more immersed in an open cockpit.
Are you skeptical? Well, the PC Gamer team has already tested them, and their feedback is pretty exciting. They explain that they, too, were initially skeptical about these little fans, but that once they’d set off on circuits like Spa-Francorchamps, their doubts were quickly dispelled, as they felt the sensation of the wind as if they were on real circuits.

Total immersion, until you feel the speed
At first glance, you might think it’s just a Sim Racing gadget that blows a little air at random. But think again. These little fans, placed on either side of the steering wheel, synchronize their intensity with the speed of your racing car. So if you’re accelerating, you’ll feel a powerful blast, while if you’re slowing down, you’ll be treated to a gentle breeze. And in the middle of a straight line, you’ll feel the wind in your face. The effect is truly amazing. Indeed, PC Gamer’s Jacob Ridley underlines the point, explaining that his brain “is best fooled by the impression of traveling at high speed with the wind” hitting his face.
These little fans even help to reduce the feeling of nausea that can be experienced, for example, with a virtual reality headset. In fact, the directional airflow helps the brain to better understand movements. What’s more, after several hours of intense racing, we’ll be glad of a bit of air.
How do I get the air simulator?
For the moment, the launch date and price of these little fans have not been announced. But if Nitro Concepts remains in the same price range as its other accessories, they should be quite affordable.
And why not take immersion a notch higher by adding an atomizer like GameScent to the system, to get the smell of burnt asphalt?
