Gaming consoles, such as the PS5, are highly sought-after gaming platforms for gamers who don’t want to spend a small fortune on a computer. Yes, a PC is a far more versatile piece of equipment than a console, but if we compare the two platforms in terms of price, the console wins hands down.
With stock shortages and difficulties in satisfying a market that boomed during 2020, GPU prices have more or less doubled. At the time, i.e. before 2020, it was quite easy to set up a setup in the €600-700 range, while still outperforming a console. Admittedly, the difference in power wasn’t enormous, but many gamers were prepared to pay a little more to benefit from the PC platform.
These days, it’s very hard to find a GPU at MSRP, or manufacturer’s recommended price. In fact, you can easily afford a mid-range graphics card at over €700. Which brings us to sim-racing and the PS5. As you know, there are many players on the PC sim-racing market, as well as on consoles.
Fanatec, Logitech and Thrustmaster are brands known for offering equipment for all platforms, with a certain preference for PC. But there are other brands, such as Moza Racing, which the manufacturer claims are PC-compatible only. But is it possible to play with a Moza DD base on PS5? Well, the answer is yes and no.
On paper, Moza peripherals are only compatible with PCs, except for the R3 bundle, which is supported on Xbox. However, there are products, such as Ras1ution 2, that claim to bring compatibility for Moza products to PS5. Does this really work? Technically yes, but with huge quotation marks.

Ras1ution 2 is a small box that acts as an intermediary between Moza’s DD base and the PS5. The base plugs in via USB, the “magic” happens inside the box, and the PS5 takes over Moza’s peripheral. In theory, this should not affect the driving experience, but in practice, it’s a different story.
Such a box applies the profile of a base station already running on the PS5, such as a G923 for example, to “camouflage” the signal from the Moza base station, thus fooling the console. Sensation-wise, it’s all a blur. Force feedback is diminished and altered, sensations are soft on impact and the overall experience is diluted.
The best way to sim-rac on the PS5 is to use equipment compatible with Sony’s console, such as Fanatec’s DD bases. The brand offers several, with different levels of power, perfect for all drivers.
