Forza Horizon 6: Release date, rumours and what’s in store for the future of the saga

Sim Racer

E-sport driver & Sim Racing enthusiast, I decided to share my passion on this website.

Since its debut over ten years ago on Xbox, the Forza saga has really taken off, even competing with Gran Turismo on its own turf. It has to be said that a sim-racing title that is both sim-arcade and simulation on Microsoft’s console had not seen the light of day before Forza. Well, there was Project Gotham Racing, but that was much more a competitor to Need For Speed than anything else.

The adventure began with Forza Motorsport, and since then, the saga has become the Go-To sim-racing on Xbox, apart from AC and ACC, which are on a completely different level by the way. Nevertheless, Forza Motorsport has seduced a good number of racers on consoles and PC, and it remains a must-have in 2024.

The saga has been split into two titles since its launch: Forza Motorsport for fans of virtual racing in sim-arcade and/or simulation (depending on your preferences), and Forza Horizon for a much more arcade-style adventure. Right now, the latest Forza Horizon is number 5, with an open-world racing concept and cars ranging from simple GTIs to the most enviable Hyper Cars in the automotive world, with a healthy dose of customization. Personally, I really enjoyed Forza Horizon 5, especially the fact that it was a “First Party” title for Xbox Series X and S. The sumptuous landscapes of Mexico (fictional, of course), be they forests, beaches, deserts, cities and everything in between, never cease to enchant me, especially with a title that works superbly well while being open world.

Admittedly, its beginnings were strewn with speed bumps, but Microsoft and Playground Games have slowly but surely rectified the situation with Forza Horizon 5, even continuing the story established in the saga’s fourth opus. FH 5 is a new title, but the career mode picks up where you left off on FH 4, with changes of scenery and new cars. Today, Forza Horizon 5 boasts more than 30 million active players worldwide, a clear indication of racers’ enthusiasm for this magnificent saga that perfectly combines sublime cars, breathtaking landscapes and fun-focused driving.

What can we expect from Forza Horizon 6?

As the saying goes: “You can’t change a winning team”. The Forza Horizon saga has been on a roll since the3rd opus, if I’m not mistaken, with the4th and 5th very popular with racing fans.

As a result, there are hundreds of cars for racers to choose from, including small bombshells, sports cars, Super Cars, Hyper Cars, protos, exotics and everything in between. FH5 had introduced buggies, Monster Trucks and a host of other vehicles, as well as extreme customization. It’s only natural to expect more of the same from Forza Horizon 6, especially with what will almost certainly be the case: drifting on winding tracks in Japanese cities, with a backdrop of Japanese techno music and neon neon everywhere.

So, when’s Forza Horizon 6?

When you consider that the success of such a saga has been pretty good since its launch over 10 years ago (I’m talking about Forza Horizon), it’s only natural to expect a 6.ème opus which will be on the starting blocks more or less 3 years after the release of FH 5.

The good news is that studio Playground Games, according to rumors and latest reports, has begun recruiting heels for a new project, which is almost certainly Forza Horizon 6. Rumor has it that the game will be set in Japan. Of course, as with all Forza Horizon games, the map will not only be huge (as with FH 5), but based on a fictional version of Japan. The land of the rising sun boasts one of the richest automotive cultures in the world, not only in terms of competition with country-specific series, but also in terms of the very unique customization of cars.

As for the release date of Forza Horizon 6, some say the game could be available towards the end of 2024, or sometime in 2025. The 5 was released at the end of 2021, and in my opinion, we’ll have the 6 either at the end of 2024 or 2025. Video game publishers tend to keep the same release periods for their most popular titles.

Forza Horizon 6 and platforms

As with previous installments in the saga, Forza Horizon 6 will almost certainly be available on Xbox Series X and S, Microsoft’s latest consoles, along with a PC version. The titles in this saga have done very well on consoles and PC, so it’s logical to expect that things won’t change too much on this front.

It’s also more than likely that the title will be added to Game Pass on launch day, as was the case with its predecessor. Once again, you can’t change a winning team, and Forza Horizon is winning every time.
