The 2018 Porsche 935 is the first car confirmed for the upcoming Assetto Corsa EVO v0.7 update. The announcement comes from the official Assetto Corsa account, which presents this car as a track machine, not homologated for the road, designed as a tribute to the famous Porsche 935/78 “Moby Dick”.
At this stage, it’s important to be precise: Kunos has confirmed the car for the forthcoming v0.7, but has not yet given a release date for the update, nor its full list of contents. So we know what’s coming for Porsche, but not yet what v0.7 will bring with it.
A very special Porsche
The 2018 Porsche 935 is one of the craziest and most underrated modern Porsches: it’s not a road-legal supercar, but a meticulously crafted track-only car, a tribute to the legendary 1978 “Moby Dick.” Only 77 units have been produced, featuring a 700-hp 3.8-liter twin-turbo… pic.twitter.com/7xojRo1C27

The modern 935 is neither a championship GT3, nor a simply more radical road-going 911. Porsche produced just 77 of them, for track use only. It’s this slightly out-of-class status that makes its arrival interesting in EVO: it doesn’t fill a regulated grid, it brings a car with character.
The official specification sheet confirms the radical approach. The model is based on a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six rated at 700 hp, combined with a 7-speed PDK gearbox and rear-wheel drive architecture. On paper, this promises a fast, wide and powerful car, but probably less easy to fit into the usual boxes than a modern racing GT.
The other interesting aspect is its identity. The reference to “Moby Dick” is not just an aesthetic wink: it places this 935 in the Porsche endurance imaginary, with its distinctive bodywork and instantly recognizable silhouette. For a simulator, this is typically the kind of model that can make you want to launch a few laps even without a dedicated championship.
That’s why this ad goes beyond simply adding a line to the garage.
What this announcement says about v0.7
The choice of this Porsche is a good one for re-launching the discussion around Assetto Corsa EVO. Since the start of early access, every update has been closely watched: players expect content, but also signs about the pace of development and the direction of the game.
This model doesn’t yet allow us to judge v0.7 in its entirety, but it does give an initial signal: Kunos doesn’t open the sequence with an anonymous addition, but with a rare Porsche, identifiable and different from a GT3 already seen everywhere.
The rest remains to be seen. Release date, possible other cars, circuits, fixes, substantive improvements: none of this has yet been publicly detailed. So the framework is clear: the 2018 Porsche 935 is confirmed, the full patch has yet to be presented.
If v0.7 accompanies this car with a real batch of additions and corrections, it could put EVO back into a more positive frame of mind. In the meantime, this 935 gives a useful first indication: the next stage of content focuses on a car that is rare, spectacular and different enough to attract attention.
